11 Smart Tips for Brilliant Writing

Do you sound smarter when you use big words?

According to a study published in Applied Cognitive Psychology , the answer is no.

In fact, complex writing makes you sound small-minded. Just consider the title of the study: Consequences of erudite vernacular utilized irrespective of necessity: problems with using long words needlessly.

Wouldn’t it be better to title this study something like The effect of using big words when you don’t need them?

To sound smart, you must stop trying to sound smart. Brilliant writing is simple writing, a relevant idea delivered clearly and directly.

Here are 11 ways you can start sounding brilliant:
1. Have something to say

This makes writing easier and faster. When you have nothing to say, you are forced to write sentences that sound meaningful but deliver nothing.

Read widely. Take notes. Choose your subjects wisely. Then share your information with readers.
2. Be specific

Consider two sentences:

        * I grow lots of flowers in my back yard.
        * I grow 34 varieties of flowers in my back yard, including pink coneflowers, purple asters, yellow daylilies, Shasta daisies, and climbing clematis.

Which is more interesting? Which helps you see my back yard?
3. Choose simple words

Write use instead of utilize, near instead of close proximity, help instead of facilitate, for instead of in the amount of, start instead of commence.

Use longer words only if your meaning is so specific no other words will do.
4. Write short sentences

You should keep sentences short for the same reason you keep paragraphs short: they’re easier to read and understand.

Each sentence should have one simple thought. More than that creates complexity and invites confusion.
5. Use the active voice

In English, readers prefer the SVO sentence sequence: Subject, Verb, Object. This is the active voice.

For example:

    Passive sentences bore people.

When you reverse the active sequence, you have the OVS or passive sequence: Object, Verb, Subject.

For example:

People are bored by passive sentences.

You can’t always use the active voice, but most writers should use it more often.
6. Keep paragraphs short

Look at any newspaper and notice the short paragraphs.

That’s done to make reading easier, because our brains take in information better when it’s broken into small chunks.

In academic writing, each paragraph develops one idea and often includes many sentences. But in casual, everyday writing, the style is less formal and paragraphs may be as short as a single sentence or even a single word.

See?
7. Eliminate fluff words

Qualifying words, such as very, little, and rather, add nothing to your meaning and suck the life out of your sentences.

For example:

It is very important to basically avoid fluff words because they are rather empty and sometimes a little distracting.

Mark Twain suggested that you should “Substitute damn every time you’re inclined to write very; your editor will delete it and the writing will be just as it should be.”
8. Don’t ramble

Rambling is a big problem for many writers. Not as big as some other problems, such as affordable health insurance or the Middle East, which has been a problem for many decades because of disputes over territory. Speaking of which, the word “territory” has an interesting word origin fromterra, meaning earth.

But the point is, don’t ramble.
9. Don’t be redundant or repeat yourself

Also, don’t keep writing the same thing over and over and over. In other words, say something once rather than several times. Because when you repeat yourself or keep writing the same thing, your readers go to sleep.
10. Don’t over write

This is a symptom of having too little to say or too much ego.

Put your reader first. Put yourself in the background. Focus on the message.

11. Edit ruthlessly

Shorten, delete, and rewrite anything that does not add to the meaning. It’s okay to write in a casual style, but don’t inject extra words without good reason.

To make this easier, break your writing into three steps: 1) Write the entire text. 2) Set your text aside for a few hours or days. 3) Return to your text fresh and edit.

None of us can ever be perfect writers, and no one expects us to be. However, we can all improve our style and sound smarter by following these tips and writing naturally.

BMW Motorcycles - A Brief History

It was the Treaty of Versailles that changed the face of BMW. Up until the end of World War 1, BMW was a manufacturer of aircraft engines. Its famous blue and white circular badge, which is said to represent aircraft propellers in motion, being a reminder of the company's past. The fact that the logo actually derives from the colours of the flag of Bavaria, and was used a good 12 years before BMW began to build aircraft engines, has done nothing to interfere with the popular myth.

When the German Air Force was disbanded and outlawed after the war, BMW had to turn its attentions elsewhere to put bread on the table. After briefly flirting with the manufacturer of agricultural machinery and even office furniture, they began building motorcycles. At that time, the chief designer was a man named Max Friz, who was responsible for the famous Boxer engines, the first of which was based on a British Douglas design.

In 1923, the R32 was born, which was to become the basis of future Boxer powered BMW's. This motorcycle used the shaft drive system which would feature in all BMW motorcycles up until 1994.

BMW motorcycles were to prove invaluable in North Africa during World War 2. Not having a chain that could clog with sand, they were so successful that Harley-Davidson were requested by the US military, to copy the machine, which they duly did and produced the Harley-Davidson XA. With the German war machine insatiable for motorcycles, the company flourished during the war years, but as Germany's fortunes declined, so did BMW's. Its Munich factory was razed to the ground by bombing and after the war the Russians dismantled the Eisenach plant and re-assembled it in Irbit. Not only that, but the cream of their engineers were taken to Russia or the USA to work on jet engines research.

As the restriction on motorcycle production was eased, BMW had to go back to basics. None of the old plans had survived, so the engineers were forced to use pre-war motorcycles as a template for their new machines. The bike that came off the production line was the R24, which incidentally had no rear suspension. In 1949 over 9,000 R24's were built, a figure which rose to more than 17,000 by 1950. The R68, a sports motorcycle was introduced in 1952. This 594cc machine was to become something of a collector's piece, as less than 1,500 were produced.

The 1950's saw a downturn in motorcycle demand. This period saw a reduction in output from 30,000 units to less than 6,000 by 1957. By the late 50's the vast majority of BMW motorcycles were being exported to the USA, Butler and Smith inc. having the sole distribution rights, but although American sales were strong, the company was struggling to survive. With the financial help of Herbert Quandt and the blossoming automobile division, BMW pulled through, and in 1959, cementing it's American reputation, John Prenton rode a BMW R69 from New York to Los Angeles in 53 hours and 11 minutes, and in doing so, shaved over 22 hours off the existing record.

The R27, the last of the single cylinder models was introduced in 1967. Times were changing and the public demanded different machines, and so BMW's were built, not with Sidecars in mind, but sporty performance. In 1970 the company introduced an entirely re-vamped range of motorcycles; the R50/5, the R60/5 and the R75/5. In 1974 the 500cc model was removed from the catalogue and replaced with a 900cc bike. In 1975 the R90S was introduced and soon earned the tag of the best 'Supersports' motorcycle of its day.

1977 saw the arrival of the first one litre engined motorcycles from BMW. This year also welcomed the first 'Full Fairing' to a BMW machine. In 1978 the R100T was thrown into the ring to compete with Honda's Goldwing.

1986 brought the world's first electrically adjusted windscreen on the K100LT, which at first seemed a little eccentric, but is now used on various BMW models and has in fact been copied by Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki.

It was BMW who in 1988 introduced ABS to the motorcycle world when it became standard on all their K models, the R1100S acquiring it in 1993. It is now fitted to almost all the company's shaft driven bikes.

Despite the near demise of the company after World War 2, the company has risen to be unquestionably one of the finest motorcycle manufacturers in the world.

Earthquake, tsunami claim 390 lives in Japan

At least 390 people were killed and hundreds of others were injured in an earthquake in Japan. Ten-metres tall waves of tsunami hit the port in Sendai in northern Japan after a huge 8.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast on Friday, with at least 390 people killed and hundreds of others injured and missing.
The violent flow of water swept away everything in the city, including costal boats and city cars while water has also entered houses and buildings.
Authorities have issued a decree to evacuate the coastal areas of the city.

The earthquake has rocked buildings while fire broke out in oil refineries and various city dwellings. According to another report, the roof of a school caved in, injuring scores of students. The Sendai Airport has been completely inundated while five atomic electricity generating centres have been shut down for security reasons. As a result, electricity supply to four million houses has been suspended. Many people saved their lives by taking refuge under office tables and desks.

The Japanese prime minister has set up a taskforce to deal with emergency situation. The Japanese yen has been devaluated against dollar.
Tsunami warnings have been issued for 57 countries of the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, Mexico and Hawaii.

What is Global Warming

Global warming Definition

Climate change is any substantial change in Earth’s climate that lasts for an extended period of time. Global warming refers to climate change that causes an increase in the average temperature of the lower atmosphere. Global warming can have many different causes, but it is most commonly associated with human interference, specifically the release of excessive amounts of greenhouse gases.

Greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), water vapor, and fluorinated gases, act like a greenhouse around the earth. This means that they let the heat from the Sun into the atmosphere, but do not allow the heat to escape back into space. The more greenhouse gases there are, the larger the percentage of heat that is trapped inside the earth’s atmosphere. The earth could not exist in its present state (that is, with life) without the presence of some naturally occurring greenhouse gases, such as CO2, CH4, and water vapor. Without any greenhouse gases no heat would be trapped in atmosphere, so the earth would be extremely cold.

Naturally occurring greenhouse gases (not fluorinated gases) are good in naturally occurring amounts; it’s when people start contributing excessive amounts of them that greenhouse gases become a problem. With excessive greenhouse gas buildup, the earth’s atmosphere warms to unnatural temperatures which causes, among other things, sea level to rise. Global warming also causes sea surface temperatures to rise, precipitation patterns to change, etc.

MUSIC! IN THE LIGHT OF ISLAM

Why is music not allowed in Islam? People told me it is a sound of the devil, but seriously I never find there any diabolic thing. People told me it is not allowed because it makes you forget God. But why, do we remember God in every second of our life? If it were like that, existence would be perfect. But it isn’t. And frankly music makes me remember the glory of God more than a lot of other things. And many composers as well were inspired by the love for Him and as a result gave us wonderful masterpieces. Why we shouldn’t listen to them?

Islam is not just about making something haram (prohibited) and the other halal(allowed). Islam addresses every issue before categorizing it as this or that. Take music for instance, Music lexically means art of combining sounds of voice or instruments to achieve beauty of form and expression of emotion. So we can say that music is a pleasant sound, regardless of where it comes from. It’s one of the purest and most beautiful things in the universe. Thus, whenever we hear a pleasant sound that makes one fascinated, we simply feel we should praise Almighty Allah, Who sets the tone and rhythm of every sound in the universe.

Thus, music constitutes an important part of our daily life. Music is there in our day-to-day life: the pleasant sound of birds, the melodious mew of cats, the unique coo of doves, etc. All these are forms of music. No one can deny this. This is even reflected in our daily activities and habits: crying, laughing, yelling and so on.

Then, when it comes to conceptualizing music from an Islamic perspective, Muslim scholars make it clear that love for singing and melodic voices are part of man’s instincts. This reminds me the words of Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, who says: “We can observe an infant lying in his cradle, soothed and sleeping by the sound of a lullaby. Mothers and nannies are always in the habit of singing for babies and children. Moreover, birds and animals respond to nice voices and rhythmic melodies. Thereupon, if singing is thus a human instinct, it is not for Islam to defy humankind’s instincts. Islam came to refine and promote the human instinct.”

So, in the light of this, we come to know that Islam has no objection to music and singing, as a form of art. This is as long as one abides by the noble principles of Islam. As we know that art is a form of expression and communication. It covers religious, intellectual, and cultural aspects of each society. Thus, Islam does not go against art, as long as it conforms to Islamic guidelines. This is whether it is expressed in literature, architecture, drawings, photography or film.

For some scholars (i) Music is a useless activity which in fact, is a state of passiveness (ii) The benefits and pleasure taken from music involves a meaning of deep slavery in passion but for me, I don’t see any argument among scholars on the permissibility of music in Islam. The same applies to other forms of art. This is because the argument of those who oppose music is that it’s a form of laghw (idle talk). Meaning that it normally distracts believers from observing religious duties, and it corrupts the mind. So what they are saying is that a Muslim should not lend his ears to what will distract him from observing his religious duties and should not listen to what will corrupt his mind or distort his heart. This is exactly the same condition stipulated by scholars, who maintain that music is permissible. They never say that a Muslim should indulge himself or herself to any form of entertainment, which would take him as far as neglecting his religious duties.

See, this is a clear-cut evidence that Islam does not consider music as something haram. It just stipulates for music to keep its permissibility, it should not involve anything haram, it should not be taken as a means of committing unlawful things. Music should not be used as a form of stirring desires in man. This will definitely open the door for Satan, and this is what Islam goes against. So music can be lawfully or maliciously used.

Thus, what I want to make clear is that music can be corrupted just as what people do to fresh air and water. But this corruption does not make all music haram (prohibited). Just as the pollution people cause to some water or fresh air, it does not make all the water and air haram.

That’s something good, and that’s the purpose music and songs tend to serve. To refresh the mind and relax the soul, hence giving praise to the Great Lord that shows us signs of His Perfection in everything He creates!

How to perform Ghusl Bath in Islam
NOTE : ALL YOUR PRAYERS ARE INVALID IF YOUR GHUSL IS NOT CORRECT.

Ghusl means bath..
Method Of Ghusal(Bath)
Before making Ghusl one should make Niyyah (intention) thus: - "I am performing Ghusl so as to become Paak." Without Niyyah, there is no Thawaab (reward) although Ghusl will be valid. Ghusl should be made in a place of total privacy and one should not face towards the Kiblah while making Ghusl. Ghusl may be performed standing or seated, preferably seated. Use sufficient water, don't skimp nor be wasteful. One should abstain from speaking while performing Ghusl. It is better not to read any Kalimah or Aayah while bathing. Be aware of these rules whilst making Ghusl.

Procedure for performing ghusl

Wash both hands up to and including wrists.

Wash the private parts. The hands and private parts should be washed even if one is not in the state of Janaabat or Najaasat.

If there is Najaasat elsewhere on the body, it should now be washed off.

Perform Wudhu (Read separate pamphlet for Wudhu according to Sunnah). If making Ghusl on a stool or platform where water will rapidly flow away, and then perform the complete Wudhu. If there is fear of the feet being immersed in wastewater during the Ghusl then postpone the washing of the feet to the end of the Ghusl.

Ensure that the mouth and nostrils are thoroughly rinsed thrice.

After performing Wudhu, pour water over the head thrice;

Then pour thrice over right shoulder and;

Thrice again over left shoulder.

Now pour water over entire body and rub.

If the hair of the head is not plaited, it is compulsory to wet all the hair up to the very base. If a single hair is left dry, Ghusl will not be valid. If the hair of a woman is plaited, she is excused from loosening her plaited hair, but it is compulsory for her to wet the base of each and every hair. If one fails to do this then the Ghusl will not be valid. As for men who grow long hair and plait them, they are NOT excused from leaving their hair dry. If a woman experiences difficulty or is unable to wet the very bottom of her plaited hair, then it is necessary for her to unplaite her hair and wash her entire head.

It is Mustahab (preferable) to clean the body by rubbing it.

All parts of the body should be rubbed with the hand so as to ensure that water has reached all parts of the body, and that no portion is left dry.

Rings and earrings, etc. should be moved so as to ensure that no portion covered by them is left dry. Ensure that the navel and the ears are all wetted. If they are not wet Ghusl will be incomplete.

On completion one should confine oneself to a clean place. If, while performing Wudhu, the feet had been washed, it is not necessary to wash them again.

Dry the body with a clean towel, and dress as hastily as possible.

If, after Ghusl, one recalls that a certain portion of the body is left dry, it is not necessary to repeat the Ghusl, but merely wash the dry portion. It is not sufficient to pass a wet hand over the dry place. If one has forgotten to rinse the mouth or the nostrils, these too could be rinsed when recalled after Ghusl has been performed.

he three Faraa'ids (compulsory acts) of Ghusl are:

To rinse the mouth in such a manner that water reaches the entire mouth.

To rinse the nostrils up to the ending of the fleshy part.

To completely wet the whole body. When one performs these Faraa'id intentionally or unintentionally Ghusl will be valid

Kalimas In Islam
There are  SIX kalimas in Islam...
The Kalimahs came into existence to facilitate the easy memorising and learning of Aqeedah (beliefs). It has no Shar’ee compulsion as far as its memorising is concerned. When they came into existence is not known.

A true Muslim is someone who is completely aware of the meaning of the Kalima, proclaims it with sincerity and devotion, and acts and lives in accordance to its requirements.

And I submit and I say (there is) none worthy of worship except Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Is Our Perfect Role Model

The Perfect Fit !

All praise belongs to Allah, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, Knower of the seen and unseen, Sustainer of the perfect balance of the Universe and all its inhabitants. He Alone we worship and His Aid Alone do we seek. He Alone turns in kindness to the servant who has as many sins as there are grains of sand on any beach and drops of water in any ocean. His Mercy outweighs His Wrath and His Justice will always prevail. Entirely dependent are we on His Everlasting Grace and forever do we yearn in this life to attain His Pleasure and earn His Love. Such is the Supreme Achievement.

May the most perfect peace and blessings be upon His Beloved Emissary, the Seal of the Prophets, a Mercy to the Worlds. His birth will be forever marked in the history of the Earth as its happiest moment, and his death will be marked as its most mournful. He is the perfect example, and any who strive with might and main to align their life in accordance with his sunnah will reap the benefit of this struggle, by the Will of Allah, both in this life and the Next. On the Day when our every sin and shameful deed will be displayed before all of creation and its Creator, it will be his intercession that we will yearn for, and he –out of his overwhelming mercy and love for his nation- will refuse the sweetness of Jannah until every member of his ummah is removed from the Hell they placed themselves in. It is due to the barakah of his beloved presence on this Earth that any of us weep for the sake of Allah and that imaan has entered any of our unworthy hearts.

Amma ba’d.

Imagine the following scenario: You have a shirt which you simply love. It fits you perfectly, looks great, falls just right, it’s your favourite colour and is made out of your favourite material. No other shirt you own comes close to this one. You decide that you want another made, so you give it to a tailor and tell him, “Here’s my favourite shirt. I want you to make me the exact same one.” When you return to retrieve it he gives you a shirt that’s the wrong colour, too short and made of polyester. You don’t like polyester. Naturally you’re not going to be pleased. You’ll probably tell the tailor, “I’m not paying you for this. It’s nothing like my favourite shirt. Take it back and make it again.”
Such will be the case on the Day of Judgment. Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala created His favourite being, His perfect creation, His beloved Messenger Muhammad ibn ‘Abdallah salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim, and He commanded us to follow in his blessed example. He is the perfect mold, the perfect design for us to shape our lives after. Everything about him salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim, from the way he wore his hair to the way he made du’a to the way he sat while he ate, each aspect of his internal and external self was made to perfection by Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala earning him the title of Habibullah, the beloved of Allah.
When we stand before Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala on that fateful Day, we will be measured and judged against the model of our beloved Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim. Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aala will show us our heart, point out the spot of envy on it and ask us about it. Such a spot was never found on the heart of the Messenger salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim. He subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala will look at our limbs and see how often we made wudu. If they are shining with nur like the limbs of our beloved Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim He will be pleased with us, by His Grace and Mercy. But if our limbs are dark and dry, devoid of the barakah of wudu, then He is Most Just and may well carry out His Justice.
Now imagine- if you would refuse to pay a few dollars to the tailor who messed up your shirt, why should Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala pay us Jannah for a body and soul soiled with anything other than sunnah? It’s no different, except in one way: the tailor may say he wasn’t given enough time and may thus receive a second chance at making the shirt, but we will not be given such an opportunity. We were given a lifetime, which is nothing but time, and told to groom ourselves in accordance with the perfect example. If we want Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala to purchase our souls for Jannah, then we should eat, drink, sleep, walk, talk, breath and live the sunnah of our beloved Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim.
We know now, as we did before, that following the sunnah of the beloved Messenger salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim is of utmost importance. Now how do we turn that knowledge into action? One of the biggest and most powerful driving factors in any action has been, still is and always will be love. Clichéd as it may sound, the proof is all around us. Anyone who is married or has seen a sibling or close friend get married has witnessed the power of love. An ordinary man becomes completely lost in his woman. He wants nothing more than to be by her side every moment of everyday. Should she desire something, he is ready to swim the seven seas to bring it for her. Should she dislike something, he wants nothing to do with it. She fills his mind and heart, as he thinks about her morning and night, and desires no human’s company more than hers.

Such should be the love every Muslim pours upon our beloved Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim. How can we help it? How can we not be obsessive in our love for the Messenger of Allah, salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim? The rest of creation understands who he is. The tree from which he used to deliver khutbahs wept in agony over separation from the beloved of Allah, salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim. The clouds above couldn’t resist keeping their course in line with that of the beloved Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi sallim, moving when he moved, stopping when he stopped, to shade him from the heat of the burning sun. Each drop of water that fell from his blessed skin while he made wudu cries out in bitter longing for reconnection with that sweet taste. Should all the beauty in the world be gathered together it would cower in shame before the beauty and perfection of our Prophet, Muhammad salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim.
As if his perfection and status before Allah subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala is not enough to make us deeply in love with him salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim, we have his love for us as another inspiration. He salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim used to worry about us. He would fear for us and our deen. Thoughts of you and I would fill his blessed mind with concern and compassion. So much so, that he salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim would raise his perfect hands before Allah ‘azza wa jal and would weep to Him, would cry to Him… he would beg Allah and plead with Allah to keep us firm on the Path to Him. He who is most beloved to Allah, who would be gifted the very heavens had he asked for them, cried to Allah saying, “Ummati! Ummati!” He cried for disobedient, neglectful servants like you and I, so that we would stay on the path of Islam and hold fast to the message he brought to us from our True Beloved subhaanahu wa ta ‘aala. Tears of worry would stream down his beautiful face and fill his beard out of concern that we might stray from the perfection of Laa ilaaha ilAllah Muhammad Rasul Allah.
As servants of Allah, we now plead to Him that He grant us the ability to hold firmly onto the rope of sunnah and to continue climbing to Him no matter what we may face in this temporary world. Oh Allah, please let us not disgrace our beloved Messenger salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim on that Day. Let us not be a cause for his having to delay entrance into Jannah. Ya Allah, please fill our limbs and hearts with the nur of sunnah, so that we may become more beloved to You. Ya Allah, let us be among those who weep to you in the predawn hours, as it is so beloved to You that You made it fard upon our Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim. Ya Razzaaq, we have strayed from the sunnah of Your Messenger. We have abandoned that which so many ‘ulema spent their lives protecting and spreading. We have become the distant servants Your beloved Messenger feared we would become. Ya Allah, please rectify our condition. Ya Muqallib al quloob, empty our hearts of the love of this world and fill them with love for You, Your Messenger, his companions and all the rightly guided who ever lived and will ever live until the Day of Judgment. Ya muqallib al quloob, make firm our hearts on Your Deen. Ya Dhal Jalaali w’al Ikraam, we are helpless creatures. Our lives and souls lie in Your Beloved Hands. If You do not help us and save us from ourselves, we will truly be lost. Ya Samee’u Ya Tawwaab, we ask You, we beg You, we plead to You that You grant us the gift of sunnah… that You fill our every cell, from the follicles of our hair to the blood running through our veins, from the corners of our souls to the depths of our hearts with the sunnah of Your beloved Messenger salAllahu ‘alayhi wasallim, so that You may have reason to smile upon us on that Day, and purchase our longing souls for Jannat al-Firdous, so we may spend our Eternity in Your Beloved Company. Allahumma salli ‘alaa sayyidinaa Muhammad, wa ‘alaa aali sayyidina Muhammad, wa barik wasallim. Wa aakhiru da’waana anilhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘aalameen

Prophet Muhammad's Last Sermon

Date delivered: 632 A.C., 9th day of Dhul al Hijjah, 10 A.H.

Where: Uranah valley of Mount Arafat.
After praising, and thanking God, he said: "O People, listen well to my words, for I do not know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one would be unjust to you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (riba), therefore all riba obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital , however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. God has judged that there shall be no riba and that all the riba due to `Abbas ibn `Abd al Muttalib shall henceforth be waived.

Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of Rabi`ah ibn al Harith ibn `Abd al Muttalib.
O Men, the Unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calendar in order to make permissible that which God forbade, and to forbid that which God has made permissible. With God the months are twelve in number. Four of them are sacred, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Sha`ban. Beware of the devil, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights over your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. It is your right and they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste...

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God (The One Creator of the Universe), perform your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your financial obligation (zakah) of your wealth. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.
Remember, one day you will appear before God (The Creator) and you will answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.
O People, NO PROPHET OR MESSENGER WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I am leaving you with the Book of God (the QUR'AN*) and my SUNNAH (the life style and the behavioral mode of the Prophet), if you follow them you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people.
The Qur'an: Revealed to Prophet Muhammad during the period from 610-632 AC. The first five verses revealed are: (1) Read in the name of your Lord, Who created. (2) Created man out of a clot that clings (in the womb). (3) Read and your Lord is the Most Bountiful. (4) Who taught by the pen. (5) Taught man that which he knew not

Famous Places in France - Top Ten

image

There are so many famous places in France, that it would be impossible to see them all in one trip. If this is your first visit to France, the options can seem overwhelming...where do you go? Which are the best places to see?
Here is a snapshot of some of the most famous places in France that you, or your family and friends might like to visit - depending on your interests, whether this is historical sites, museums, areas of natural beauty or food and wine.
If you are spending a couple of weeks here you could easily visit most of the places listed below. It will be a whirlwind trip, but is certainly doable and you will have many wonderful memories.
Some of the most famous places in France are in Paris!
1. La Tour Eiffel
image
The Eiffel Tower, built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel for the Universal Exposition, is without a doubt one of the most popular tourist attractions in France. It's amazing to think that the Eiffel Tower was, for a time, seen as an eyesore and even ugly; it was almost knocked down in 1909.

2. Musée du Louvre
image

The Louvre museum, once a royal palace, is now one of the most well known art museums in the world, featuring paintings such as the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as spectacular artworks by Michelangelo, Raphael and, Botticelli.

3. Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris
image

Next in line is the beautiful Gothic cathedral, Notre Dame, built from the around 1163 to 1345, visited by more than 12 million people a year, and one of the most famous french monuments.

4. Arc du Triomphe

image

The Arc de Triomphe and magnificent Ave des Champs-Elysées, are spectacular to see. The Arc was commissioned by Napoloeon to commemorate the victories of his armies; the tomb of France's Unknown Soldier lies here, and every evening a memorial flame is lit.

5. Versailles

image

If you can, try and visit the Palace of Versailles, built during the reign of Louis XIV - known as the Sun King (Roi Soleil) to display his wealth and power of the monarchy at that time. Versailles can be easily reached as a day trip from Paris. It is without question, absolutely spectacular, and one of the most dazzling things you will probably every see.

6. Mont St Michel

image

Mont St Michel is one of the most recognisable landmarks in France, located just off the coast of Normandy. In fact, it is the next most visited site after Paris! Its hard not to be awed by the sight of Mont St Michel, with its Gothic-style Benedictine Abbey perched high above a rocky outcrop.

7. Mont Blanc

image

Mont Blanc (meaning white mountain in French) is the highest mountain in the Alps, lying between Italy and France. Chamonix is here, the site of the first Winter Olympics, and one of the most popular places to visit in France for skiing. Even if you're not planning to ski, it's well worth a visit.
You can take the Aiguille de Midi cable car for spectacular views of the mountains. Definitely one of the highest (and probably one of the most exhilarating - or scary, depending on which way you look at it) - cablecar rides you'll take!
8. Chateaux de la Loire

image

The Loire Valley, playground to royalty from the 15th through to the 18th centuries, boasts many beautiful renaissance chateaux. There are several hundred castles in the Loire; some of the most popular are Château d´Amboise, Chambord, Chenonceau, Blois and Cheverny.
The Loire is also known for its fine wines too, and you can sample Muscadet, Sauvignon and many more.
Heading south, there are even more famous places in France.

9. Carcassonne

image

Carcassonne, in the Languedoc region, is Europe's largest walled city and one of the finest examples of medieval architecture. Carcassonne's towers and pointed turrets look like they have come straight out of a fairy tale or Walt Disney movie. But there is no make believe here - it's all for real. Carcassonne is also one of the most most popular french monuments.

10. Lascaux

image

Some of the finest prehistoric art collections can be found in southwest france. The ancient cave paintings, drawings and carvings that you can see here are truly awe inspiring, some dating as far back as 35,000 years.
The Lascaux sites (now a replica) are very popular tourist attractions in france, and there are many others too that are worth visiting.
And last but not least: french food and wine. Wherever you go, you will be able to try local specialties, whether this is bouillabaisse in Marseille, camembert in Normandy, or foie gras in the Perigord.
