Associating a domain name registered at Godaddy with your blog at blogger.com – Step by step guide

You can give your blog at blogger.com more professional identity by configuring it to point to a domain name. When I need to find this information I tried searching on Google. Plenty of articles found but no one completely guide me to the full process. I was confused finding items they have mentioned to click in the middle of the process. I registered my domain at Godaddy and finally I had to contact Godaddy support to get help on this matter.
If you need to associate your domain with your blog I will explain you step by step how to do it easily. Imagine your domain www.example.com needs to associate with your blog example.blogspot.com. When someone enters your blog address example.blogspot.com it will redirect to your domain www.example.com. So your blog is more professional with a top level domain name.
To point your Blogger blog to a domain name you must setup domain name mapping, which configures the domain and blog settings. Making some changes in both Godaddy and Blogger is required in this process. First let's see how to make changes at Godaddy.
You need to park your domain first in order to associate it with your blog.

How to park your domain name?

• Log into your Account Manager at Godaddy.
• Click Domain Manager in the My Products section.
• If you have registered more than one domain at Godaddy, select the domain you want to park and then from the Nameservers select Set Nameservers.
• Select I want to park my domains.
• Click OK.
• Click OK again.

Now we have to make another update which tells the web browser to open your blog at Blogger when someone enters your domain name's URL in the address bar of the web browser. This is called editing the WWW CNAME record of the domain name you want to associate with blogger.
How to edit your CNAME record?
• In the My Products section select Domain Manager.
• From Tools menu select DNS Manager.
• Under the domain name you want to use with your blog select Edit Zone.
• Click WWW Record in the CNAME(Alias).
• Type ghs.google.com for the field Points To.
• Click Save Zone File and then click OK.

We have one more update to make at Godaddy. Your domain may enter as www.example.com or as example.com (without www prefix) by your visitors at the address bar. This update will ensure your blog displays when users enter the domain name with or without www prefix.
To make this update you should follow these steps.

• In the My Products section select Domain Manager.
• Select the domain name you want to use with Blogger blog.
• From the Forward list select Forward Domain.
• Select http:// or https://. This setting depends on your server settings. My server uses http:// and I select http://.
• In the Forward to list enter your domain name. (Eg: www.example.com)
• Click Update my DNS Setting to support this change.
Note: If you currently running a web site with same domain name, selecting this option will makes the site unavailable as this setting will make changes automatically in the nameservers and IP address. (In my case I selected this option)
• In the Advanced Options section you can select either I am permanently forwarding my domain or I am only temporarily forwarding my domain. That is depending on your purpose.
• Click OK.

That's all we have to do at Godaddy. Then we have another update at blogger.com
• Log in to your Blogger account.
• From the Settings tab, select Publishing.
• Click Custom Domain.
• Click Switch to advanced settings , In the Buy a domain for your blog section.
• In the Your Domain field, enter your domain name. (ex: www.example.com)
• To specify another location in which to look for files, in the Use a missing files host? section, select Yes and enter the path. If not, select No.
• Enter the characters as they appear in the image above the field.
• Click Save Settings.
Now visit your blog example.blogspot.com and you will see the URL changes to www.example.com in a second. When you enter www.example.com at the browser address bar you blog will display.
