Beauty Makeover Tips

A beauty makeover is a way to transform a woman's appearance. It consists of taking a woman from her current makeup look, which can be dated or unflattering, to a new look. A successful makeover will make a woman look beautiful and younger, with a fresher look. Makeovers not only please the eye, but can instill confidence and a renewed sense of sexiness.

1.

Makeup Tones

o Having a flawless skin tone is the key to great makeup. Blotchy or blemished skin can make it difficult to achieve a professional beauty makeover. Begin the process with freshly scrubbed skin. Apply a moisturizer to entire face and neck area. Use a liquid concealer and dab over dark or red spots. If your face has excessive redness, use a yellow concealer to mute the color. Use a liquid highlighter to lighten under-eye circles and unevenness around the eye area.
Before applying foundation, do a quick "cheek test." Rather than testing a shade of makeup on your hand or arms---hand skin is generally darker than your face---do a streak test on your cheek and jaw line. This will give you a true reading. Use a makeup that's closest to your own skin tone.
If using liquid makeup, apply with a sponge, starting from the forehead and working downward. Mineral powders leave a great finish but should be applied with a kabuki makeup brush, which is a wide brush with a short handle. Swirl mineral powder on your face by turning the kabuki brush in your hand. After you've applied your makeup, use a loose face powder in matching tones to give your face a soft, veiled look.

2. Blushing

o Use professional brushes to apply blush, not the mini one that may come with a blush product. Gently swirl your brush into the blush, then give it a good tap to knock off the excess. Start at the hairline right above your cheek bone and sweep forward. It's good to note that wherever you place your brush first will get the most makeup, so don't start in the front; it may at first feel like an unnatural exercise but it works. Blush both cheeks using this method. Then apply a very light dusting of blush all over the face, including the forehead, nose and chin.

Eyes and Lips

o There are many ways to apply eye makeup. You may need to practice to find the right look for you. A good basic eye makeup look consists of a light eyeshadow shade on the lids. Use a slightly darker shade to accent the eye bone, starting from the outside and working inward. Apply black eyeliner to the top of the eye only. Start on the outside, making small dashes along the lash line until you've crossed the eyelid. Use a soft-tip brush to smudge the eyeliner so you don't see individual dashes. Apply two or three coats of mascara.
Line your lips and add lip color for a finished look.
