Popular Internet Search Engines List

Bing

Bing is owned by Microsoft Corporation, and is considered the closest competitor to Google. It was made available to Internet users on June 3, 2009. To make the competition tougher, Microsoft entered into a contract with Yahoo, regarding Yahoo search engine being replaced by Bing. Like the Google interface, this website is simple; but with daily changing of beautiful background wallpapers. Just like Google, it has the preview facility, wherein the user can view a snap of the webpage without opening it.

Yahoo

Yahoo is another web search engine which ranks second. Contrary to the simple and uncluttered search interface of Google and Bing, Yahoo has a homepage that houses loads of entertainment information. You can read news, browse through the latest articles around the world, play games, check out jobs, and many other features on the homepage itself. The results displayed on the search page by Yahoo is powered by Bing, as per the above mentioned deal. A very useful feature implemented is ‘SearchScan’ which automatically alerts users in case of computer viruses and spam websites search results.

Dogpile

You can refer to this web tool as the search engine of other search engines. Dogpile is a metasearch engine which does the job of collecting and displaying results from other popular search engines such as Yahoo, Google, Bing, etc. It is now owned by InfoSpace, Inc. and started functioning in November, 1996. It gathers results from all search engines, filters duplicate ones, and then displays the results. If you do not know which search engine you need to find the results from, you can simply use Dogpile.

These are just three of the best ones in the Internet search engines list. You may go through a general list of Internet search engines in the following.
